Volunteers come from all age groups and backgrounds. Pictured are nursing students from Elms College, who participated in "A Matter of Balance - Fall Prevention" groups at Forest Park Manor and West Springfield Council on Aging.

This project provided certification training for the students and gave the seniors an opportunity to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels. Joseph Baffour was enthusiastic about this program. "The seniors learned practical strategies to avoid falls, such as asking for help, and made connections with other seniors to continue their walking."

Students (left to right) Yao Agbermordzi, Donna Iwanicki and Joseph Baffour showcased their Community Health and Honors Project through a poster presentation at the college.
